Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, in America's eyes, into the category of child prodigy. This was a natural trait for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen entered this loving sanctuary within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita L. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share in "The Shamrock Rovers" an eminent Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the second child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed playing athletic games as a child and excelled in sports. Furthermore, she had a gift to act. This is why she received almost all of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her home country. In the age of 14she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
